Lack of balance can lead quickly to a lack of confidence, which might mean you stop getting out and about as much as you used to. Walking aids, whether a rollator, tri-walker or just a trusty walking stick, provide an invaluable helping hand for those unsteady on their feet. Rollators are the sturdiest of the bunch, with 4 rolling wheels as opposed to the 3 you will find on a tri-walker. They provide more points of contact with the ground and as such can support more weight as you walk.

The 4 wheels also make it easier for those with a lack of stability to turn corners, which is really helpful in busy environments. All our rollators are fitted with brakes and ergonomic handles. These handles are easier to use for those with arthritis and/or limited strength in their hands, with easy-to-squeeze brakes to bring you to a safe stop if necessary.

Rollators are easy-to-transport walking aids. They are often built with folding frames, which means they slide into most car boots and are easy to store when not in use. And many rollators also feature a seat with a comfortable backrest. This is particularly useful for those who tire quickly while out walking, but they also come in handy if you are in a standing-only situation with no seating provided. They're ideal if you need some support when walking but want to stay independent and active. The seat is great for anyone who needs to take frequent rests, and the brakes mean you stay in control on slopes and uneven ground. If you need less support, a tri-walker or walking stick might be sufficient.

  • What is the difference between a standard rollator and a heavy duty one?

    The main differences are weight capacity and frame strength. Standard rollators are designed for users up to around 130kg. Heavy duty rollators use a more robust frame and wider seat to support users up to 200kg or more.   • Can I use a rollator on uneven ground?

    Most standard rollators are designed primarily for pavements and smooth indoor surfaces. If you regularly walk on grass, gravel or rougher paths, look for a model with larger wheels, as these handle uneven ground considerably better. Some outdoor rollators have pneumatic tyres too, which absorb bumps more effectively.

  • How do I choose the right rollator height?

    Stand upright with your arms hanging naturally at your sides. The handles should sit at wrist height. Too low and you'll stoop, which puts strain on your back. Too high and your arms are raised, which is tiring. All our rollators are height-adjustable, and the adjustment range is listed on each product page.

  • What is the difference between a rollator and a walking trolley?

    A rollator is designed for outdoor and indoor use, with hand brakes, a seat and a bag for carrying things on the go. A walking trolley is more of a home aid. It typically has a tray or shelf and is designed to help you carry things around the house while having something to lean on. If you need support both inside and outside, a rollator usually covers both better.

  • Are rollators available with VAT relief?
