CareCo Celebrate The Mobility Industry at the AMP Awards 2019

Last night CareCo attended the annual Access and Mobility Professional (AMP) awards ceremony in London, which was held at The Law Society on Chancery Lane. CareCo were finalists in the Dealer of the Year (Rest of the UK) category, an award that recognises the top-performing mobility retailers in the UK that have led the way in what has been a challenging year in the mobility market. Although we were pipped to the post by Ableworld UK, it was great to be recognised by the industry as a leading and rising player in the mobility market.

What AMP Say About CareCo

"Few mobility multiples have come to close to replicating CareCo’s march for expansion this year. The retailer has demonstrated its ambitions to become a truly national retailer, branching out from the South and venturing as far north as Leeds and Glasgow. Its huge online operation is increasingly being supported by a growing network of physical stores. Some industry peers believe CareCo has finally discovered the ideal balance between internet sales and high street shops – a sweet spot so many have searched for to no avail. The retailer is far from satisfied with its already enviable portfolio and it continues to roll out its proven store model across the UK."

General manager, Paula Sparling, said: "It was great to be part of the AMP Awards event and see CareCo front and centre of the mobility retail market. Our efforts in the last few years are coming to fruition now."

CareCo's national showroom manager, Matt Smith said: "We believe our showrooms provide the best buying experience anywhere in the UK for a wide range of mobility products and we are always looking for new ways to better serve our customers." Just earlier this month CareCo opened its Glasgow showroom which includes the UK's first indoor mobility scooter test track.

Jane Bunting, HR manager, said: "CareCo has rapidly expanded in just a few years. Not so long ago we had just a few mobility shops, with most of our sales being processed by phone at our Brentwood head office. Today we have 15 mobility shops in the UK, which together generate more sales than telephone and mail order combined." CareCo has gone from being a local business to a national one, which has created many new HR challenges for us as our geographic range increases.

Every department at CareCo has had to up its game to help manage this growth; sales and customer services, warehouse and logistics, engineering and finance, buyers and marketing, systems and IT, have all been working tirelessly to improve processes to facilitate our successful growth. So a big well done to the whole team! It is fantastic to be recognised for the hard work we have put in over the last few years.

Today, CareCo employs 160 people in 15 locations in the UK, with 13 stores in England and two more in Wales and Scotland. It ships over 3,000 products a week from its Brentwood warehouse and uses a combination of retail stores, mail order, telephone, website and social media to drive sales. We have a clear growth plan that is in place and will be opening new showrooms and improving the products and services we provide over the next year.
