Tri-walkers and rollators are our most popular walking aids - they provide excellent support and stability and as a result reduce the risk of falling. Any body who has suffered a fall will be in near constant fear of the next one, especially went venturing outside, and this devices are literally life savers.
These wheeled walking aids are best suiting for people who are capable of walking short distances but need a little extra help when going on a longer journey, such as up to the shops, or walking on holiday, and also provide useful storage. They are also light and highly transportable, and require little if any upkeep on your part, so will last for many years. It's true that they don't quite offer the comfort or versatility of a mobility scooter, but for the user who is a little more stable on their feet a rollator or tri-walker can make life much easier.
Worried That Your Legs Will Get Tired?
Worry not! Some rollators offer sturdy, comfortable seats that are perfect for taking a quick break, whether you're out for the day or navigating the aisles of a supermarket. Generally upholstered in vinyl, these seats are easy to clean and are sturdy enough to cope with all users. These seats don't interfere with the folding capabilities of the walking aid, so you'll still have a convenient and portable mobility aid at your disposal. Let's look at a few of our favourites:
Tri Walkers
CareCo Sanandres Tri-Walker: This compact, folding tri-walker is fitted with loop brakes and a luxury storage bag. It has a maximum weight capacity of 115 kg and comes in a very fetching blue. It's also our cheapest tri walker.
The proLite Visage is a newer model with a strenghened but lightweight aluminium frame and solid seat that provides great comfort and support.
Rollators with Seats
CareCo Glider: This convenient and simple to use rollator has a sturdy enough build to get you out and about both inside and outside. The ergonomic handles are ideal for those with limited strength in their wrists, while the arthritic-friendly loop cable brakes will lend an air of reassurance.
Metro Rollator: Rather than a bag, this comes with a handy basket that is great for shopping trips as well as working in the garden.
The Burly Heavy Duty Rollator is a larger, stronger walking aid, with a wide solid seat providing support for people up to 180kg / 28st 7lbs. This is the perfect choice for anybody on the larger size. It also comes with a storage compartment under the seat.
Duo Option
None of these walking aids should be pushed while somebody is seated. If you feel this is something you'd need, you need a Duo wheelchair & rollator in one, such as the Tuni Samba Duo Rollator.
These can be used as a sturdy walking aid, and you can also be pushed along while seated. We have two models, the Tandem Duo 2.0 Rollator / Wheelchair being the other model.
You can find all our seated walking aids here.
