Adding wheelchair accessories means you can customise the usability, storage, and safety of your chair. You can carry more with wheelchair-specific backpacks, add leg raisers for medical needs, or add a seatbelt to keep you upright and secure.

At CareCo we have lots of wheelchair accessories which can help customise the way you use your chair.  

When you’re spending long days pushing your self-propelled chair, you might find your hands feeling a bit worse for wear. Our Gel Padded Wheelchair Gloves give you a cushioned surface for extra comfort to keep those pesky calluses at bay. Clever fabrics mean that they’re non-slip even in wet conditions, but breathable enough to wear when it’s warmer. 

Cushions are another comfy addition - in the words of our Occupational Therapist, Natasha, “Never underestimate the importance of a suitable cushion!”. Gel cushions are great for reducing pressure when you’re in your chair for longer stretches of time. 

Regular backpacks and bags can get in the way of your wheels or brakes, so a dedicated wheelchair bag is a great way to carry around all of your essentials. We have back mounted or side mounted options so you can choose whichever is easiest for you to reach.     If you need storage for your wheelchair, we have backpack style bags which can be mounted behind you, or an easy-access pannier style bag which can be popped on the arm of your chair. 

  • How can I make my wheelchair more comfortable?

    Adding any wheelchair accessories to personalise your chair to you will help, but cushions and arm pads are particularly helpful for added comfort.
