About Our Walking Frames

According to our Occupational Therapist, Natasha, using a walking frame can really help to give you a sense of freedom. She says, “When you find your mobility becoming limited or unstable even with a stick, if you’ve had a fall or can’t manage distance anymore, the losses can feel huge. It’s at this point that a walking frame can really become liberating!”

Our lightweight walkers are effortless to use even if your strength is limited. We use materials which are light but strong, so you’ll be able to move your walking frame with ease but still feel confident that it can take your weight.

It’s important to get the right height, so adjustable frames enable you to set the frame to the most comfortable position for you.

If you need to store your walker in a small space or pop it into your boot, our foldable designs - like the CareCo Origami Folding Walker - collapse away neatly. The rubber ferrule tips provide a sturdy grip on most surfaces, and designs with wheels will give you more freedom to move around.

Walking Frame FAQs

  • What is a Zimmer frame?

A Zimmer frame is another term for a walking frame, which is a lightweight walking aid to help with mobility. They feature four legs, or two legs and two wheels, with a metal frame and handles to grip onto whilst walking.

  • What’s the difference between a walking frame, a tri-walker, and a rollator?

The difference between the three mostly comes down to the number of wheels. Walking frames usually have no wheels, but may have two wheels and two legs. Tri-walkers, as the name suggests, have three wheels, whilst rollators generally have four wheels and can be suitable for indoor or outdoor use.

  • Can I use a walking frame outdoors?

Walking frames are great for in the home, but if you’re looking to get out and about, a rollator might be a better choice.
