For daily use, a lightweight full cover or seat cover protects against showers and keeps the seat dry when the scooter is parked outside a shop. For longer-term outdoor storage, a heavy-duty cover or scooter shelter gives more robust protection against sustained rain, wind and dirt. Most covers use elasticated edges or straps to hold them in place securely without damaging the scooter.

  • Can I leave my mobility scooter outside?

    Yes, but it should always be covered. Prolonged exposure to rain and damp causes corrosion, degrades the battery over time and can affect the electrics. A waterproof cover significantly reduces that risk. For regular outdoor storage, a heavy-duty shelter or scooter garage gives more protection than a cover alone and is a worthwhile investment if you do not have indoor storage available.

  • What is the difference between a rain cover and a storage cover?

    A rain cover is designed for use while the scooter is parked briefly during a day out, typically lighter and quicker to fit. A storage cover is heavier duty, designed to withstand sustained exposure to weather over days or weeks. Some covers do both, but if the scooter lives outside permanently, a purpose-made storage cover or shelter is the better option.

  • How do I fit a mobility scooter cover?

    Most pull over the scooter from the top and use elasticated edges, straps or quick-release buckles to hold them in place. Check that the cover does not drape over the wheels in a way that could trap moisture underneath, and make sure any straps are secured so the cover does not blow off in wind. Always follow the fitting instructions for your specific model.

  • Should I cover the control panel separately?

    It is worth considering. The tiller and control panel are the most sensitive components on the scooter and the most vulnerable to water ingress. Some full covers include a panel cover as part of the design. If yours does not, a separate control panel cover is inexpensive and gives added peace of mind on wet days.
