About Our Bathing Solutions

Our range covers the most common bathing challenges: getting in and out safely, reaching every part of your body, washing when a full bath or shower is not possible, and protecting casts or dressings from water. Simon Bidle, our training coordinator, covers how different bathing products work together in his guide to setting up an accessible bathing experience. For anyone unsure which seating option is right for their bathroom and mobility level, Natasha, our occupational therapist, covers exactly that in her guide to choosing the right bathroom seat. Sometimes a combination of two or three simple products makes a bigger difference than one expensive one.

Bathing Solutions FAQs

  • Where do I start if the bathroom is becoming difficult to manage?

The most useful first step is working out which specific part of bathing is the problem. Getting in and out of the bath or shower, standing for the duration, reaching certain areas, or washing when a full bath is not possible are all different challenges with different solutions. Natasha, our occupational therapist, advises on exactly this in her guide to choosing the right bathroom seat, and Simon Bidle covers how to combine products effectively in his guide to accessible bathing.

  • Do I need to make permanent changes to my bathroom?

Not necessarily. Many of our bathing aids require no installation at all. Bath boards, non-slip mats, long-handled sponges and no-rinse washes all work without any fixings or alterations. Suction grab rails can be repositioned as needs change. Permanent wall-mounted rails give more security for heavier users, but for many people the non-permanent options are more than sufficient.

  • What can I use if I cannot get into the bath or shower at all?

No-rinse wash creams, disposable wash gloves and waterless shampoo caps allow a thorough clean without any access to a bath or shower. They are widely used during recovery from surgery, when a cast cannot get wet, or on days when fatigue makes a full wash impractical. Our washing and hygiene range covers these in full.

  • Are bathing aids available with VAT relief?

That's right, VAT is not applied to most medical items. If you have a qualifying long-term illness or disability, you can purchase bathing aids free of VAT. Our team will sort the declaration when you order. VAT relief explained.
