About Our Wet Weather Accessories

A rain cape or poncho covers your body and often the front of the scooter too, keeping you dry without restricting access to the controls. Most have clear panels so visibility is not affected. Control panel covers protect the tiller and electrics from water ingress, which is worth prioritising as the controls are the most vulnerable part of the scooter in wet conditions. Foot mats keep your feet dry on the footplate.

CareCo founder Will Harrison, covers wet weather protection for scooter users in more detail in his guide to rain protection accessories, including which products work best in different conditions.

Wet Weather FAQs

  • What is the difference between a rain poncho and a scooter cape?

A poncho covers the rider from the shoulders down and is put on like a garment. A scooter cape is larger and encloses both the rider and the front section of the scooter, giving more complete coverage in heavier rain. The cape tends to be the better option for prolonged wet weather riding.

  • Do I need to cover the control panel separately?

It is worth doing. Most ponchos and capes leave the tiller exposed, and water getting into the controls can cause problems over time. A dedicated control panel cover takes seconds to fit and gives the electrics proper protection.

  • How do I keep warm as well as dry?

Waterproof outerwear keeps the rain off but does not insulate. Layering underneath is the most effective approach. Our winter warmers range includes cosy leg covers and blankets designed for scooter use, which work well alongside a waterproof cape.
