Our bath and shower mats have suction cup undersides that grip wet surfaces securely, with a soft top surface that is comfortable to stand on. Built-in drainage channels let water run through rather than pooling underneath, which reduces the risk of mould and bacteria building up between uses. Most are machine washable and straightforward to fit or remove.

  • Do non-slip shower mats actually work?

    Yes, provided you buy one with a proper suction cup underside rather than just a textured surface. The suction cups grip the base of the bath or shower tray and hold the mat in place even when it is wet. The grip does weaken over time as the suction cups age, which is why it is worth checking the mat periodically and replacing it when the underside starts to perish.

  • What is the best material for a non-slip bath mat?

    For the underside, rubber gives the best grip and lasts well. PVC and TPE are lighter and dry faster, and both resist mould reasonably well. The top surface should be soft enough to stand on comfortably but still allow water to drain through rather than sitting on the surface. Avoid anything that feels slippery when wet on top, regardless of what the underside does.

  • How often should I replace a non-slip bath mat?

    When the suction cups on the underside start to lose their grip, or if you notice mould building up that washing does not clear. For most people that is every one to two years with regular use and proper drying between uses. Hanging the mat up after each shower rather than leaving it flat on the tray significantly extends its life and reduces mould.

  • Are bath mats enough on their own, or do I need grab rails too?

    A mat deals with the underfoot slip risk, but it does not help with balance when stepping over the bath edge or lowering yourself down. If either of those is a concern, a grab rail or bath seat alongside the mat gives you a more complete solution. Most people benefit from both once mobility starts to change.

  • Can I use a bath mat in a walk-in shower as well as a bath?

    Yes, most of our mats work on both surfaces provided the tray or bath base is smooth enough for the suction cups to grip. Textured or heavily contoured shower trays can reduce suction cup performance, so it is worth checking the base of your shower before buying. If the tray is heavily textured, a mat designed specifically for that surface type is a better option.
