- Verified BuyerAdds assistanceI'm 78 and bought the Power Glide to assist in pushing my disabled wife's wheelchair. It definitely does this. I have now used it daily for several week and it has enabled me to take my wife on longer walks.
On up slopes It copes well, although on steeper slopes you still need to push but not as hard as previously, before It was fitted.
It is easily removable for when you need to fold the wheelchair and only takes a minute or so to refit.
The only possible criticism that I can find is that the battery to motor/charger and the small plug connecting to the controller could be more robustStrengths Ease of removal and refitting. Ease of speed controlWeaknesses The connections could be more robust. - Verified BuyerBest purchase! This has made a massive difference for my Mum who needs to use a wheelchair outdoors but lives in a very hilly area! Even shorter walks before this purchase were a lot of effort but now long walks and outings are easy for those pushing her.
Once set up the battery pack is easy to use and makes pushing a wheelchair effortless.Strengths Speed adjusting is easy to use and useful for walking and whether going up or down hills. Very sturdy wheels and good battery life.Weaknesses Battery and wheel base are on the heavy side, but this makes is very sturdy. - Coping with the access to our DrsThe Igo Powerglide was bought for my Wifes folding wheelchair. We are both disabled and accessing our Drs was quite a strain as its all on a slope. I read some of the feedback and was concerned about using it in a confined space. It managed corridors and entry into a consulting room on its first outing, using the motor. I soon learned that by adjusting the speed dail according to 'load' it was easy to use. The fitting was easy once I worked out where it went on the wheelchair frame. Connecting and unconnecting the unit to put into the car is simplicity itself and well thought out. I found it easy to use and easy to carry which apart from the battery which is a tad heavy. At 84 disabled if I can manage it it should be easy for others.
We are extremely pleased with the unit.Strengths All in all pretty good at what its designed forWeaknesses None really except maybe the speed adjuster could do with more friction as its very easy to move and consequently increases speed when not wanted. - Great on the straight! This power glide has made life much easier for my husband (the pusher) on the straight but he finds it difficult to turn corners or sharp bends. I now have to try slowing the wheel down on the appropriate side to make it easier. As we’re both in our late eighties things are a bit harder than they used to be.Strengths Powerful little wheels that just glide along, don’t have to push.Weaknesses Those little wheels want to go straight ahead when we want to go round the corner.
- I go powerglideWe purchased this item and it had been an excellent purchase. Powerful enough for most situations and quite steep banks
