- The Daytona XLR, ticked all our boxes.To my husband and I , using mobility scooters is nothing new. We’d become very reliant on them for our independence and day to day life. This however, put us in a very tricky situation when our scooters became unreliable and new problems kept cropping up with them. It quickly became obvious, that our only solution was to replace them. Through the helpful staff at Care Co Brighton, it quickly became apparent that to meet our requirements of 8 mph, comfy, reliable and safe on the road. One model stood out amongst the numerous at the showroom. The Daytona XLR, ticked all our boxes. We couldn’t be happier with the level of service from all the Care Co staff, despite being purchased a week apart. Both our scooters were easily ordered and delivered the next day.
We were so excited as to the opportunities our new mobility scooters opened to us, that for about a week, we were hardly ever at home. We now thought nothing of spending the day driving to, Shoreham, Goring, and other local towns, finding new cafes each time. Given the Daytona’s claim a 30 mile range off one charge. Our biggest adventure, followed my husband muttering (the immortal words), “I’ve had a great idea” on one sunny Friday afternoon. That’s how I found myself driving from East Worthing to Brighton! We brought our chargers (just in case) – the Daytona’s charger is incredibly small and easily portable. I think we were both happily surprised with how easy the Daytona’s make navigating tricky unknown pavements. Additionally surprising was how comfortable we both were for the 2.5 hour drive. The scooters’ charge held very well for the journey, and it was user fatigue that resulted in the choice to hop on the train home.
This too however, was a bit of a test for the new dream machines, as our previous scooters were far too large to get through the barriers at the station, let alone on the train. At Brighton, we were ushered onto the train- both in the same carriage! The day, trip and scooters were all a resounding success. And as a result, I think we both now have absolute trust and confidence in our Daytonas, and feel able to plot and plan even bigger and better trips with them; also likely preceded by “I’ve just had a brilliant idea…”.
