Travel Wheelchairs

Travel wheelchairs provide an alternative to self-propelled wheelchairs for those who might not have the upper body strength to travel without assistance. Versatile, easily transported and much more affordable than electric wheelchairs, manual designs like travel wheelchairs can help you to stay active and social.

While they look very similar to transit wheelchairs, our travel wheelchairs do have a few key differences. The decision you make will depend on your specific needs, your current level of mobility and your expected use.

Travel wheelchairs have the smallest wheels of any of our manual wheelchairs. While this of course means they cannot be used without the help of an attendant or carer, it does make them especially suited to short journeys and safe, convenient transfers. A slimmer frame means they are lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, which makes life much easier both for the user and the attendant, and they are often fitted with ergonomic handles designed to be kinder to the wrists and hands. Brakes are sometimes included on a travel wheelchair to give you that extra security while you’re out and about.

With folding frames and removable footrests, our manual travel wheelchairs are designed to be easy to transport. This makes them really useful for those looking to keep a mobility aid in the boot of the car for quick and safe transfers while out and about. And many of our models, like the CareCo Fold and Go, come with their own durable carry bags to make life even easier.
