Working From Home But No Desk? 7 Simple Solutions

With coronavirus spreading fast across the UK many companies are asking employees to work from home.

However, many people do not have a desk to work at, and if you're working from home for a prolonged period you won't want to permanently turn a kitchen dining table into a computer desk.

Fortunately, we have the perfect solution: an over-chair table. Over-chair tables are designed to help people with mobility problems to safely have their meals, read and enjoy hobbies from the comfort and security of their armchair.

They are built well and are very sturdy, which means they are also perfect if you need a temporary home office desk. You will literally be able to work from your favourite armchair!

They can also be used over beds, so if space if really tight you can work from your bedroom too. Here's a few great solutions to your work from home dilemma:

Universal Adjustable TableUniversal Adjustable Table - this is a great table that is very sturdy. It is held in place by placing one of the legs / feet of your chair on the base.

Because the base is very low it can also fit under all beds. The table top is large enough for a laptop and note pad, along with the essential cup of tea!

One of the best features of this table is that the top swings away to allow easy access.

Lavenham Tilt-Top Overbed Table - if your work involves a lot of reading and reviewing of reports than a tilt-top table can give you a more comfortable reading position on a chair.

There is still small fixed table for a drink and your phone.

Easylift Split Top TableEasylift - a Larger Sturdier Split Top Table - if you want something a little bigger and sturdier then the Easylift Split Top Table is a great choice.

Like the Lavenham, it tilts and has a static section, but it's slightly larger and the base is designed to more easily slide over a chair.

If you prefer to work at home without a desk you can still improve your work space with a Luxury Lap Tray. This will allow you to sit in comfort on your sofa or in bed, and the tray will support your laptop without risk of it overheating on your lap.

The cushion also ensure you are much more comfortable and less likely to develop pins and needles from too many hours sat with a computer on your lap.

Improve Your Lighting

It is not until you start working from home that you realise how poorly lit, in comparison to your office, your home is.

Rather than putting in more powerful bulbs, invest in a stylish floor lamp that you can use to brighten up your home work space. The Beech Effect LED Floor Lamp certainly doesn't look like office lighting, but its large LED lamp will cast a bright and uniform light across your work space, not only making it easier to read, but also helping to lift your mood and spirit.

Alternatively, the LED Table Lamp is perfect for desks and will also fit on a large over-chair table. This little light packs a lot of power, and the daylight LED bulbs are designed to relieve eyestrain and headaches and help you concentrate for longer.
