Next Generation Splitting Mechanism Making Better Travel Mobility Scooters

February 23, 2015 -

When looking through our travel mobility scooter section you may have come across a term known as “splitting mechanism”, referring to the way a mobility scooter breaks down. It may not be that clear what this splitting mechanism is, but it is a vital advancement in the way that lightweight mobility scooters are disassembled and transported.

Before this next generation splitting mechanism was introduced travel mobility scooters were unable to be taken apart completely. In order to make these older mobility scooters compact enough to transport they would only fold down and would been very limited in how they could be disassembled. What this new splitting mechanism has done is introduce a way in which travel mobility scooters could be broken down, facilitating easier transportation. Pictured here are the CareCo Zoom (red) and CareCo Airlite (blue). What this advanced splitting mechanism does is allow the travel mobility scooter to break apart in the middle, yet still maintaining the electric circuit in the mobility scooter. This means that a travel mobility scooter can be broken down into smaller pieces that can be lifted with little difficulty due to their relatively lighter weight. As a result it is far easier to put the travel mobility scooter into the boot of your car or just store it away than mobility scooters that do not have this function.

Although this may sound complicated, it is actually very simple to disassemble a travel mobility scooter with a next generation splitting mechanism. While some travel mobility scooter may require a lot of pulling and lifting to break down, the splitting mechanism can be activated by simple pulling a lever at the back of the mobility scooter. This lever instantly separates the rear of the scooter from the foot platform, leaving you with two compact pieces that can be carried with ease. Within the CareCo range there are two travel mobility scooters that make use of the next generation splitting mechanism. The CareCo Airlite is our lightest mobility scooter and with the splitting mechanism it is the easiest travel mobility scooter on the market to transport. A more powerful travel mobility scooter only available from CareCo is the CareCo Zoom which also features the advanced splitting mechanism If you wish to find out more about these travel mobility scooters or any other products then view our Travel Mobility Scooter shop listing and be sure to call 0800 111 4774 to chat with one of our trained mobility experts.
