When shopping for new living room furniture the most important for most people part is getting the armchair right. It’s where you’ll be spending a large part of your time so it needs to be comfortable, to your taste, and to fit your requirements. When choosing an armchair here’s what to consider to make sure you get the right one.

Decide on Your Lift Armchair

The first thing to do before buying a new armchair is to decide on what areas you want to spend your money on. Depending on how much you’re willing to spend its useful to know in advance what features you want to prioritise.

For example, leather riser recliner chairs will generally have a higher price pint than equivalent fabric of faux leather models. Additionally, electric recliners will generally be costlier than stationary or manual recliner chairs. Among electric recliners dual motor models will be a bit more expensive than single motor variants. Once you’ve got an idea of what you can afford you can narrow down what chair is right for you based on your daily requirements.

Help Standing up and Sitting Down

If you have limitations in your physical mobility that affect your ability to stand and sit choosing the right armchair can make your life much easier. Characteristics of the chair such as seat height, stability, and assisting features can influence its ease of use.

If you have severe difficulty standing up from a chair then you may want to consider product like the MaxiComfort Cloud lift chair. These types of armchair offer the ability to gently raise the whole of the chair up and tilt it forward using an attached electronic remote. This takes away the physical strain of having to hoist yourself up from the chair and risk falling forwards due to imbalance or lower body weakness.

In this case you may want to consider a model like the Winchester Fireside Chair. The higher than average seat, tall armrests and rigid stance. The benefit of this is that it’s an easier position to lower yourself into and stand up from, but still requires some physical engagement from the user.

Posture and Comfort

Having a chair that provides support and comfort when sitting in it – especially for long periods – is essential to it being the perfect armchair.

If you have aches or pains that originate in certain areas the right chair can help alleviate that issue. If you find that you require additional support for your back then a chair such as the Wentwood Fireside Chair may be ideal. The tall, upright backrest gives support across the full length of your spine while holding it in the correct position, reducing slouching and the pain that can be caused doing so. For added comfort the Avon has deeply cushioned button backed upholstery.

If comfort takes precedence over posture then an electric recliner is likely the better option. An armchair like the Coniston Fireside Chair has exceptionally soft cushioning to provide incredibly relaxing comfort. Combined with the dual motor reclining features, you can adjust the back rest and foot rest independently to take pressure of sore areas.

Rather than encouraging you sit upright it takes the weight of your frame instead. It also has heat and massage features built in for the ultimate in comfort and relaxation.
