Our Showrooms Are Open 7 Days a Week: What We’re Doing to Keep Them Safe and Clean

From Monday 25th May, our mobility showrooms will be open again 7 days a week, by appointment only. As well as the additional measures that have been taken to ensure CareCo remains a safe, clean and hygienic environment, all staff have been trained to help maintain the highest levels of cleanliness in work places and public areas. To ensure customer safety, we are running an appointment service so only one customer is in the shop at any time. CareCo started out as a mail order business, but in the past few years we have grown the number of retail outlets across the UK – we now have 16 mobility shops with a further 3 opening this year. Our shops now support many key workers. The coronavirus outbreak has reduced the number of people coming into our shops, which is understandable as people must stay safe and social isolation is essential to fight this disease. We want to put the word out that our shops are open again, and we are keeping them meticulously clean.

Our customer service desks are wiped down with strong cleaning solution at the start and end of the day. We use Dettol Antibacterial Surface Cleanser Spray which, according to their website, is more than 99.9% effective against coronavirus strains from the same family as the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

All door handles are sanitised, all product handles and buttons are not only cleaned every day, but after every customer has viewed them. Keeping everything clean helps stop the spread of coronavirus.

We provide hand sanitiser for customers who come into the showroom, and all staff wash their hands when they first arrive at work, and then again throughout the day before and after eating, and after using communal areas. We also ask all customers to stay a respectful 2m distance from other customers and staff, as much as possible – all our shops are large and there is plenty of room to browse without getting close to others.

If a customer wishes to view a product we are happy to give it another wipe down with cleaning fluid beforehand (and will clean again after they have left). We are confident that our products are hygienic, but would encourage customers to also wear washable or disposable gloves in general.

Although all mobility products are available online, we do understand that many people wish to view before they buy, so we will continue to support you for as long as possible. We will only close our shops if the Government instruct all shops to close, although as a medical device shop we hope that we will be exempt from this – we’ll be speaking with officials to discuss options to stay open. If shops do close, we will keep telephone lines open, website orders will be processed, and our warehouse staff and drivers will continue to deliver our products to your door. We have put in place new hygiene and safety procedures for all our drivers to protect them and our customers.

Our number one priority at the moment is to continue to provide our customers with the products that they need to remain not only independent in their homes when in isolation, but also comfortable at home too. If you look after somebody in isolation we will of course welcome you into our showroom and talk you through the various mobility aids we sell and demonstrate, so they do not have to leave the house if they feel it is unsafe to do so.
