Arthritis is a long-term medical condition that causes joint inflammation, pain, stiffness and swelling in a joint, most commonly hands, feet, knees, and hips. Arthritis and other joint conditions affect more than 10 million people in the UK, and while they are more common in older people, individuals of all ages can be affected.
