Five Reasons to Consider a Swivel Recliner as Your Place of Comfort

May 29, 2018 -

We’ve spoken a lot about riser recliners and their benefits on this blog, but we’ve been more sparing with our advice on swivel recliners. This may make it seem like they don’t have much to offer, but this is far from true. To show just how much a swivel recliner can offer, here are five reasons to make it your personal place of comfort.

1. A Rotating Seat

This may seem like a gimmicky feature to some, but a rotating seat does bring benefits. One is convenience; you can switch your attention between conversation and a screen – such as the telly –  with ease with no need to lean awkwardly. Another is relaxation and comfort; the motions of smoothly rotating recliner can be soothing. And, on a less grown up note, there is the enjoyment of spinning around in the chair for the sake of it, because of it’s your chair you can do what you want.

As you would expect the backrest on a swivel recliner can recline. This is done simply by loosening the lever and shifting your weight slightly backwards. Certain swivel recliners are also supported by curved, continuous armrests, such as the Sorrento swivel chair. This adds an additional rocking motion that is equally as soothing as the rotational function. With all these gentle motions providing comfort it’s the perfect place for an afternoon siesta, just don’t doze off for too long.

3. Elegant Style and Comfort

Riser recliners are incredibly comfortable place to sit in thanks to their generous cushioning, but they can take up a lot of space. A swivel recliner achieves comfort while still being elegantly styled and understated. The carefully thought out shape of a swivel recliner means you have a timeless design – inspired by the 1950s Eames Lounge Chair – and a supportive seating position. However, if you prefer comfort provided by cushions there are also beefier swivel recliners, like the Porto Swivel Rise Recliner.

4. Complementary Footstool

Since most swivel recliners don’t have a raising footrest like a riser recliner they are often supplied with a matching footstool. This means you can put your feet up when watching the telly or when you’re having a nap in the reclined position. This is also useful if you have a condition such as varicose veins and need to raise your legs to help minimise symptoms. As an added bonus, it’s a handy extra seat for when you’ve got friends and family round.

If you’re looking to turn up the luxury and comfort on a swivel recliner you have the option of choosing one with heat and massage functions. A chair like the Trento maintains the style and shape of a swivel recliner, but a few extra cushions house the parts that can provide a relaxing and pleasurable massage. The connected handset is clearly laid out with a variety of different settings, so you can alter the firmness, pace, and temperature to your preference.
