We’re proud to announce a new partnership with Taking Care, the UK’s leading personal alarm provider. With over 30 years’ experience, they have long-standing partnerships with major organisations such as the RAF Benevolent Fund, Home Instead, and Age UK.

What is a Personal Alarm?

Personal alarms provide a way to instantly call emergency help through a pendant or wristband, with some models including automatic fall detection.

For anybody who has already experienced a fall or other medical emergency, a personal alarm provides great peace of mind. They are designed to be worn at all times, so unlike a phone, which might be in another room, you always have a way to instantly request help.

There are three main types of personal alarm offered:

  1. The basic Digital Personal Alarm covers you in the home and garden - no telephone landline is required, as it uses the same technology as mobile phones. You have a pendant and a base unit which are used to call for help and speak to an agent.

  2. The Digital Fall Alarm includes the addition of fall detection, which automatically calls the UK-based 24-hour emergency team if it detects a fall.

  3. The Taking Care Anywhere provides all the above and also can be used outside the home. It uses a GPS (Global Positioning System) to inform the emergency team of your exact location, as well as mobile phone technology that allows you to talk to an agent through your pendant.

Emergency Resolution Team available 24 hours a day

The most important service they provide is a fully trained UK operator on hand 24/7 to answer alarm calls. They will determine the type of emergency and liaise with your emergency contacts or emergency services to get aid to you as soon as possible.

Independence at Home

The key benefit of a personal alarm is that it helps people to stay independent at home, even after a fall or other medical condition. For those who live alone this is especially important, as it takes away the fear of being alone following a fall or other medical emergency or concern.

How does the personal alarm work?

  1. As soon as the alarm is raised by pressing the button on the pendant or wrist strap, a trained member of the UK resolution team will answer the call.

  2. The Taking Care team will have access to your details, health conditions and emergency contacts.

  3. The operator assesses the situation and contacts either someone from your emergency contact list (which is in order of preference) or they dial 999 to request the emergency services.

  4. With fall protection, an alert is raised automatically and even if you cannot speak, help will be sent.

So, if you ever find yourself wondering what might happen to you in a fall at home when you’re alone, or any other medical emergency, then join the 250,000+ others who now consider Taking Care their digital guardian angel.
